welcome - Edmonton Arts Council

Annual Programming Grants

Deadline: 11:59 PM on December 1, 2022

Organizations may be considered for annual or renewable support from either an Operating Investment or an Annual Programming Grant. The Operating Investment program guidelines can be found here.

Programming grants support specific, relevant activity by non-profit organizations that may not need, want, or qualify for an operating investment relationship with the Edmonton Arts Council. Programming grants are assessed based on the impact of the activity and work on artists, artforms, audiences and communities. The amount of activity and work is a key measurement which influences granting. Programming grants may also seed new connections between an organization and the Edmonton Arts Council.

Programming grants are highly flexible. Support levels may change based on yearly submission, review, and decision cycles, particularly when there are changes to the amount of work undertaken.

The Edmonton Arts Council follows the City of Edmonton fiscal calendar. All programs and cycles correspond to the calendar year: January 1 to December 31.

Programming Grant amounts are flexible and may rise and fall based on activity from year-to-year. Due to disruptions in activity caused by the pandemic, for applicants who have received grants from the EAC in the past, their most recent funding history will help establish funding levels for 2022. New applicants are encouraged to apply. If you are a new applicant and are unsure of your potential grant amount, we would like to speak with you - please contact grants@edmontonarts.ca or call 780-424-2787.

To be eligible to request and receive an annual Programming grant, an applicant must:

  • Be a registered non-profit organization.
  • Undertake specific work within the City of Edmonton such as:

    • Artistic creation, production, presentation, the support of sectors or artistic disciplines in the Edmonton arts community, or the promotion of active participation in art making.
  • Conduct those activities on a regular, recurring basis.
  • Maintain their organizational profile in the in the EAC online portal (eac.smartsimple.ca).

The programming grant process is managed through information exchanged through the EAC's online portal (eac.smartsimple.ca). Organizations intending to apply to EAC funding must have an account and complete their Organization Profile. Information about the new Organization Profile, include tips on filling it out, can be found here. Step-by-step instructions for completing your registration are available here.

For any technical support needs, contact the EAC by emailing support@edmontonarts.ca or by phone 780-424-2787.

Funding for Organizations Information Session

To help address any questions about the new set of funding opportunities for not-for-profit organizations in Edmonton offering arts and festival programming, the EAC hosted an information session. During this quick information session, EAC staff walked attendees through the mechanics of the application process, and provided some background and context for the new programs.
