This fund and program provides the opportunity for local arts administrators to undertake sabbatical leave projects. Their continued contributions to the organizations they manage will enhance the stability and sustainability of Edmonton’s arts community.

Artist Initiated Public Art Project

Artist Initiated Public Art Project grants are intended to encourage and support the activities of Edmonton artists for a specific time towards a specific partnership project to create art in the public realm. Projects can be by individual artists or small collectives of artists, directed towards the creation, development and production of work that will be installed in Edmonton location(s) free and accessible to everyone.

Community Arts Program

Community Art is valued for its ability to bring people together in shared, collaborative, creative experiences to express the things that have meaning to us: where we’ve come from, where we’re going, our world, our fears, our dreams, our aspirations. It strengthens the community, develops creativity and increases awareness of the arts in our lives.

The principles behind Community Art projects are artistic exploration, active participation and intentional inclusiveness that allows communities to tell their own stories.

Community Investment Program - Arts Building Operating

The Arts Building Operating Grant program is not intended for capital expenditures, for endowment purposes, to support normal season or operations, or to fund administration costs. Additionally, the grants are not intended to support organizations that are primarily training or educational institutions.

Edmonton Artists' Trust Fund (EATF)

The Edmonton Artists' Trust Fund (EATF) is a joint project of the Edmonton Arts Council and the Edmonton Community Foundation. The fund invests in Edmonton's creative community by supporting Edmonton artists as they create new work, change the direction of their careers, study with a master or renew themselves creatively.

The Festival SEED Community Investment Grant Program is intended to provide limited assistance, subject to availability of funds, to resident non-profit organizations for the purpose of funding new or emerging festivals.

Cultural Diversity in the Arts Program

The City of Edmonton through the Edmonton Arts Council has established the Cultural Diversity in the Arts Program in recognition that artists from all parts of the world enrich Edmonton’s cultural scene. Grants will support the activities of individual, Edmonton artists for a specific time towards a specific project. Projects can be individual or collective and could include creation of work in any art form. Professional development and mentorship projects are encouraged.

The grants will be given up to a maximum of $15,000 and in the case when an artist wishes to apply but faces language barriers that make a written application impossible, the artist may, at the discretion of the EAC submit a 5-minute video narrative instead of written material.

Microgrant Program

The MicroGrant program has been suspended for 2017. Individual artists now have two opportunities to apply for small budget ($5,000 and under) CIP Artist Project Grants. Visit the CIP Artist Project Grant page for more information, or to apply.

Where the deadline falls on a weekend or statutory holiday, applications will be accepted until 4:30PM on the next business day.
